IWA&B 2026|About the conference

We are pleased to announce that the 12th International Workshop on Anthocyanins & Betalains (IWA&B 2026) will take place in Salamanca, Spain, from 15 to 17 July 2026. The event will be hosted by the University of Salamanca (USAL), one of the oldest universities in Europe—founded in 1218—alongside other historic institutions such as those in Paris, Oxford, and Bologna.

The workshop is organized by the Polyphenol Research Group of USAL (GIP-USAL), and the venue will be the Hospedería del Colegio Mayor Arzobispo Fonseca, located in the heart of Salamanca. The venue is within walking distance of the city’s historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Bringing together researchers from around the globe, IWA&B 2026 offers a unique platform to share and discuss the latest scientific advances in the study of anthocyanins and betalains. These plant pigments span nearly the entire visible spectrum—from yellow and orange to purple and blue—and contribute not only to the vivid colors of plants and foods, but also to relevant biological functions and potential health benefits. Over the years, significant research efforts have been devoted to understanding the biosynthesis, properties, bioactivities, and potential applications of these fascinating compounds. IWA&B 2026 aims to foster collaboration among academics and industry professionals on these topics, providing a valuable opportunity for networking and knowledge exchange.

We look forward to welcoming you to Salamanca for what promises to be an inspiring and fruitful scientific meeting.
